I went to a mac-n-cheese eating contest this evening hoping it would make for some good photos, but it didn’t turn out that way. As I was coming home I noticed the moon and thought it looked pretty cool. Saturday night as we were taking the raft and kayak out of the river at one of Kyle’s friends homes, the good ole boy noticed me looking at the moon and told me that it was a ‘water moon’. I said I had never heard that phrase before and he explained that when the moon is like that it is pouring out water, tipping forward and there will be rain ( there had been thunderstorms nearly every night for the previous 5-7 days ) There must be something to the country wisdom! In ‘real’ moon talk, it is a waxing moon, the correct full phrasing for tonights phase is - waxing gibbous, 88% of full, Monday, 11July 2011.
taken with the 5dMII and the 70-200 2.8 ISII, unbelievably sharp lens, this is a severe tight crop.
