A little #TBT from 2002

Hello my poor neglected blog! A lot has been going on and I have been remiss in not posting about it. I will try to get everything caught up over the next few weeks.

In the meantime, I was reminded today of one of my personal projects that I really loved. It was the fall of 2002, I was on the verge of leaving Los Angeles. I was looking for something to shoot and came across an a flyer for what is now considered one of the greatest punk rock shows ever, The KROQ Inland Invasion featuring these bands – Adolescents, Bad Religion, Buzzcocks, Circle Jerks, GBH, New Found Glory, Pennywise, Sex Pistols, Social Distortion, T.S.O.L., The Dammed, The Distillers, The Offspring, The Vandals, Unwritten Law, X and blink-182. Yea. It was that kind of show! So, being an old punk myself from back in the 80′s ( I once saw Black Flag in a roller skating rink ) I started wondering who was punk now, what did it look like, who was liking the bands I used to like? So I took a couple of friends and we drove to San Bernardino with a back drop, a 6×6 silk and my Rollei. We set up near the entrance taping the backdrop to a huge dumpster and began to ask people walking in if they’d like their photo taken. Almost everyone said yes and I made a nice set of photos that afternoon. I even stepped in from of the camera that day. Here are a few of my favorites from the set.
